The visit of the delegation of the Moroccan Atomic Energy Center (CNESTEN) to Hungary

Marah Hamid, Scientific Director of the Moroccan Atomic Energy Center (CNESTEN) and his colleague Mrs Bentaleb Naoual visited Hungary between 13-16 June 2017 at the invitation of the Hungarian Cultural and Commercial Center (HTCC), to get to know better the Hungarian isotopic technology and the local state of atomic energy, and to get in contact with new partners in view of launching future cooperations.

The delegation was received by Dr. József Steier, Country Manager of HTCC in Morocco, who assisted the delegation during their stay in Hungary.

CNESTEN is researching the peaceful means of nuclear energy, providing services and training in the field of radiation treatment, isotope analysis, radiological drug production or radioactive waste management.

The guests were welcomed in Paks at the Nuclear Power Plant by Pál Kovács, Chief Advisor to the CEO, who held a full presentation on the company from 1982 to the present days.

Mr Marah Hamid stated that he personally supports the construction of a nuclear power plant in Morocco, but said that his country was currently looking into solutions in the field of renewable energies. He said he had a ready-made study for the establishment of a nuclear power plant in Morocco that would "like to upgrade" with the help of Paks’ specialists, who could also contribute in the formationof local experts.

Prior to that, CNESTEN's delegation also visited the Isotope Institute. IzotópIntézet Ltd. deals with the research, development and production of radioactive isotopes and other products, which are widely used mainly in the fields of healthcare, research and industry. The members of the delegations held very fruitful negotiations with their counterparts, and the parties examined specific areas of possible cooperation for the future.

During their brief delegation trip, representatives of CNESTEN expressed their interest in the Hungarian radioactive technology and the local energetic know-how, and indicated that during their stay, they were able to gather substantial experience,so they are looking forward to further deepening bilateral cooperation in these areas.
